Our Pride Goes in Every Bag

Our Story

Randy Hughes stands in a lush green cornfield, holding a bag of Blue Farm 100% Organic Tortilla Chips. He is wearing a light blue shirt and a dark cap, and the sky above is partly cloudy. The surrounding corn plants rise high around him, creating a vibrant agricultural backdrop.
About Blue Farm Chips

“Hey Randy, what goes into a bag of Blue Farm Chips?”

I’m glad you asked!

It’s simple, really: organic blue corn, organic sunflower oil, salt. That’s it!

Or is it?

Truth be told, each bag of our delicious chips is so much more than simply high quality, locally grown organic ingredients.

Every one of those beautiful, blue bags tells a robust and compelling story about family and legacies, about a passion for responsible farming that spans generations, and about connecting with and supporting our community through good food done right.

About Our Farm

W. Hughes farms is owned and operated by Randy and Judy Hughes of Janesville, WI. We own and rent over 5,000 acres of tillable land centered in Rock County.

About Our Corn

People ask, “Is the corn really blue?” The answer is yes! That eye-catching, deep indigo color you see in our chips is 100% all natural, right off the cob!

It’s a story with a rich plot (of farmland) about hard work and determination, filled not only with organic blue corn, but with ups and downs, losses and victories, suspense and drama.

Every bag you see on the shelf is the culmination of months of tilling, cultivating, planting, fertilizing and harvesting, all while doing our best to collaborate and cooperate with the fickle whims of Mother Nature.

Not only that, each bag also represents a veritable army of people. Farmers, truckers, millers, factory workers, distributors, grocers and restauranteurs; every one of these amazing individuals is a vital cog in the machine that keeps our chips flowing.

Literally hundreds of people benefit every time we end up in your shopping cart, as you support not only the people in the process but their families as well.

Two children are sitting at a table covered with a blue and white patterned tablecloth. They are enjoying a bowl of Blue Farm 100% Organic Tortilla Chips, with one child holding a chip and the other taking a bite. There are two small bowls on the table, one containing salsa and the other guacamole. A colorful bag of tortilla chips is also visible on the side. The kitchen in the background is slightly blurred, with various items on the countertops.

Ultimately, every bag is also a reflection of who we are. We love what we do!

Most people don’t think the words “thrill” and “farming” go together, but for us, growing your food is what gets us out of bed in the morning.

We live for the gratification that comes from putting a seed in the ground, guiding and cultivating that seed into a fully formed food, and then turning that food into a delightful and delicious product for our friends, family and community to enjoy.

That deep sense of accomplishment is what brings together the people and the process behind the product and is the impetus for everything we do.

So what goes in a bag?

Organic blue corn? Check.

Organic sunflower oil? You bet.

Salt? Gotta have it.

At the end of the day, though, what separates us from everyone else and makes our chips taste so darn good, is that our pride goes in every bag.
